Our Vision

Wilder is a community for people who live and work in Newport. Founded on leading-edge principles of sustainable site development and construction methods, we are proud that many of our forward-thinking features have become common construction techniques. Those continue to be the underpinnings for development of the “not so big” homes by builders in Wilder. The builders still strive for attainable price points, and our master plan and design guidelines encourage designs to facilitate aging in place and multi-generational living, including accessory dwelling units (ADUs). Wilder is not gated and does not have a lot of the usual HOA regulations. It is designed to be walkable, and with front porches on every house it is easy for neighbors to get to know each other. We are growing organically based on what the community needs.

Eco-friendly features

Wilder was designed to be gentle on the land and cost-effective for residents. From the beginning the plans called for elements like  bioswales and rain gardens for natural stormwater drainage, Dark Sky street lights, permeable pavement, use of native plants, rainwall construction, low flow water fixtures, energy star appliances, extra insulation, solar-ready roof connections, and deeper eaves to protect against water intrusion.
